Here is a add from magazine Ads.com for clothes for kids. Lots of different strategies have been used in this ad. First of all they have a boys and a girl int his ad conveying that they have product for both genders.
Then the red white and blue in the back gives a kind of patriotic look to it trying to say that their product is in house or in other words pure American (instead of made in some other part of the world but USA). This gives consumers a patriotic feeling and makes them buy it.
I think the third approach they took here is the race. they have a dark color boy in the ad which tells that they have variety of styled clothes for different color or race.
